Apple has placed a straight-to-series order for a mystery drama based on Hilde Lysiak, a 9 year old investigative reporter who exposed a murder in her hometown of Selinsgrove, PA.

Deadline reports that the untitled project, from Anonymous Content and Paramount Television, was created by Dana Fox and Dara Resnik, who executive produce with Joy Gorman Wettels and Sharlene Martin. Jon M. Chu is said to direct and executive produce.

The series will follow a young girl who moves from Brooklyn to a small lakeside town. While there she unearths a cold case that everyone in town, including her father, tried hard to bury.

The story is inspired by Hilde Lysiak who was the first to report on a murder in her hometown at the age of nine.

On April 2, 2016, Lysiak was at the police station asking the police about the conclusion of a vandalism case she was following, when she overheard the police chief state that he had to leave because something important was happening. Lysiak quickly discovered that the call was for a murder that was only a few blocks away from her home. She went to the crime scene and then hurried home to give her father a short report which he edited and posted on the website with the headline, "EXCLUSIVE: MURDER ON NINTH STREET". She then returned to the murder scene and shot a short video for the paper's website and YouTube channel. Lysiak scooped her competitors by several hours. [W]

Apple is said to have placed an order for 10 episodes of the series which will join its rapidly growing slate of original content. It's unclear when Apple plans to debut its programming but you can follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
