Check out this new 'iOS AR' concept that features Smart Notifications, Siri Sight, a new Control Center, new gestures, a pro Camera app, and much more. The concept was designed by Michael Calcada, a fourth year student in the York & Sheridan graphic design program pursuing a Bachelor of Design Honors Degree.
Ultimately adding augmented reality to the home screen, redesigning the notification experience, adding customization and improving control center, fixing continuity throughout iOS, introducing dark mode, improving gestures and redesigning apps to be more user friendly are the areas I chose to address. I wanted to address the usability problems with the current version of iOS by adding much needed features, both to boost functionality as well as add new features that create a new and more personal experience between a user and their iPhone.
Highlights:
● Notification hub available on the lockscreen or a swipe down from the top
● Notifications grouped by app
● Always-on lockscreen with preview of the time and battery
● Notification dot at the top left of your iPhone
● Augmented reality with Siri Sight
● Swipe gestures for multitasking and Control Center
● Fully customizable Control Center
● Third party toggles for Control Center
● Dark Mode
● New pro Camera app with ability to shoot in RAW, change your ISO
● Volume HUD that doesn't get in the way
● Vertically scrollable Home Screen
● Customizable icon shape
● AnimojiTime
● FaceTime group video calling
● Redesigned Music app
Apple is expected to unveil iOS 12 next week at WWDC 2018. Let us know if you'd like to see any of these concept features in the new mobile operating system!
