Apple has acknowledged a microphone issue affecting iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices running iOS 11.3 or later in an internal document distributed to authorized service providers this week, reports MacRumors.

Users may experience a grayed out speaker button during calls and the problem may prevent customers from being heard during phone calls or Facetime video calls.

Authorized service providers are instructed to ask customers to disconnect or power off all connected Bluetooth audio devices to see the problem is resolved. If the speaker button remains grayed out, the technician will run audio diagnostics. Affected devices will display a "device could not detect dock" or "accessory not supported" alert in the diagnostic pane. Once observed the service provide can initiate a repair.

If your iPhone is no longer under warranty, service providers can request an exception for this issue.
