Apple is planning to shift focus from developing new features to improving the quality and reliability of macOS, according to a Bloomberg report. This follows an earlier report today from Axios which said the company was doing the same for iOS.

The company told its software engineering groups about the change this month, one of the people said. The shift will also affect this year’s update to Mac computer software, but to a lesser degree, the person said, adding that planned upgrades to Apple Watch and Apple TV software won’t be affected.

macOS has seen its share of issues over the past few months with a major bug letting anyone log in as root without a password, another bug that let you unlock App Store preferences without a password, and the Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities.

It's unclear what upcoming macOS features might get pushed back due to Apple's refocus on reliability. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
