Apple will replace the battery in your iPhone 6 or newer device for $29, regardless of battery health, according to an internal memo seen by iGeneration.

The company recently launched a $29 battery replacement program after admitting that it been secretly slowing down devices as their batteries aged.

Despite the program, some Apple Stores were refusing to replace a battery for $29 if it still tested as healthy. Apparently, Apple has now internally clarified that if a user reports slower performance, their battery should be replaced at $29 regardless of its health check.

Even if the Genius finds that the battery of your iPhone has not reached 80% of its initial capacity, it will replace it for 29 €[$] if you ask it. The note states that employees in the Apple Store will have to offer a replacement to all customers who simply report performance issues, even if their battery is not replaceable according to the tool.

Additionally, if you replaced your battery at $79 before Apple's announcement, you may be able to get a refund by contacting Apple support.

Apple's Batterygate is just getting started. Numerous class action lawsuits have been filed against the company across the globe. You can follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
