Apple has announced that its HomePod smart speaker will not arrive before the holidays and has been delayed until next year.
The company provided the following statement to John Paczkowski:
"We can’t wait for people to experience HomePod, Apple's breakthrough wireless speaker for the home, but we need a little more time before it’s ready for our customers. We’ll start shipping in the US, UK and Australia in early 2018.”
This is an unfortunate delay for the company and great for its competitors. Amazon's line of Echo smart speakers have dominated the market and another holiday shopping season without a rival device from Apple will likely help that lead.
