eBay has announced the launch of 'Image Search' for iOS, a new feature that searches for listings based on a photo.
With Image Search, you just click on the camera button and take a photo or use an existing photo of the item you want to buy from your camera roll. eBay will then show you listings for items that are a close match or visually similar to what you want to buy.
eBay says it uses a deep learning model called a convolutional neural network to process the images. The output of the model gives a representation of your image that we can use to compare to the images of the live listings on eBay. Then, the items are ranked based on visual similarity and use its open-source Kubernetes platform is used to quickly bring these results to you.
What's New In This Version:
Image Search, tap the camera icon to get started!
Here’s an overview of other fixes:
- Take it away with the latest, fully iOS 11 optimized app
- Fixed an issue where sometimes my eBay lists would not load without a manual refresh
You can download eBay from the App Store for free.
