Apple has added FLAC audio support to the new iPhone X, iPhone 8, and Apple TV 4K; as well as, the iPhone 7.
FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality.
FLAC support is listed in the technical specifications for Apple's new devices and will launch on the iPhone 7 with the release of iOS 11.
It's doubtful that Apple Music will stream FLAC audio files so you'll need to use the Files app or a third party app for playback.
