Microsoft is ending support for Windows Phone 8.1 today. The company says there will be no new security updates, non-security updates, free or paid assisted support options or online technical content updates for devices running Windows Phone 8.1 or earlier.
That leaves just Windows 10 Mobile which is running on only 20% of Windows Phone devices.
With Microsoft's share of the smartphone market at just 0.3% many view today as the death of Windows Phone. Microsoft hasn't announced any significant phone updates of late and it's suggested that perhaps the company will just maintain Windows 10 Mobile until support ends in 2018.
There are some rumors however that Microsoft will unveil a Surface Phone soon. The device will purportedly have a 5.5-inch OLED display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of Storage, microSD card expansion, and a 20MP camera.
