Check out this beautiful iPhone X concept designed by Gabor Balogh that imagines a function area with virtual buttons powered by Siri AR.
Recent rumors have suggested that Apple's next generation iPhone will have a 5.8-inch screen but only 5.15-inches of that will be an actual display area. The remaining space is reserved for a 'function area'.
Balogh believes that Siri would be used to smartly select function buttons for that area.
Siri would now not only listen you, but would see the world. It would recognize objects, know where you are, what your activity is and what you probably need in that moment. Do you see the application icons next to the Home button? Those are smartly selected functions by Siri that might come handy in that situation. Since SiriKit exists, it seems logical to do the same with AR as well. The space around the Home button is perfect to present the augmented reality related functions, let’s name it AR widgets.
Balogh visualizes Siri presenting with augmented reality. If the device is raised, the environment would be semi-visible in the SpringBoard's background and pressing the digital Home button would fully reveal the Siri AR view. Here, information could be overlayed onto your environment as captured by the rear camera.
