Facebook is testing a new Dislike button for Messenger, reports TechCrunch.
Reader Hoan Do noticed that when he hovered over messages in a chat thread, tapping the emoji button offered various reactions including thumbs-up Like, thumbs-down Dislike, heart eyes, lol, wow, sad, or angry. Everyone in thread can see the reaction counted below the message it's attached to. You can also see a full list of who left which Reaction.
Facebook confirmed the new feature saysing, “We’re always testing ways to make Messenger more fun and engaging. This is a small test where we enable people to share an emoji that best represents their feelings on a message.”
The company told TechCrunch it sees the Dislike button as more of a 'no' button. Often Messenger is used to make plans and the reaction could be used for quick logistics and voting.
Thats why it’s offering a Yes/No option, even though people will naturally see it as a Dislike button too.
You can download Messenger from the App Store for free.
