Google has announced a major update to Google Voice for iOS, Android, and the web.
The new Google Voice apps feature a cleaner, more intuitive design that keeps things organized. The Inbox has separate tabs for text messages, calls, and voicemails. Conversations are kept in a continuous thread, so you can see all messages for each contact in one place. Google has also upgraded messaging with support for group and photo MMS and in-notification replies.
The voicemail transcription feature is gaining support for Spanish and Google says accuracy will improve over time.
Going forward, we’ll provide new updates and features to the Google Voice apps. If you currently use Hangouts for your Google Voice communication, there’s no need to change to the new apps, but you might want to try them out as we continue to bring new improvements.
The updates will start to roll out today and everyone should have them in the coming weeks. You can download Google Voice from the App Store for free.
