Qualcomm Responds to Apple's $1 Billion Lawsuit

Posted January 21, 2017 at 5:26pm by iClarified
Qualcomm has issued an official statement on Apple's $1 billion lawsuit alleging the company withheld payments in retaliation to Apple's truthful response to law enforcement agencies who were investigating them.

The FTC has charged Qualcomm with using anticompetitive tactics to maintain its monopoly in the supply of baseband processors used in cellular phones.

Here is Qualcomm's full statement:

-----
“While we are still in the process of reviewing the complaint in detail, it is quite clear that Apple’s claims are baseless. Apple has intentionally mischaracterized our agreements and negotiations, as well as the enormity and value of the technology we have invented, contributed and shared with all mobile device makers through our licensing program. Apple has been actively encouraging regulatory attacks on Qualcomm’s business in various jurisdictions around the world, as reflected in the recent KFTC decision and FTC complaint, by misrepresenting facts and withholding information. We welcome the opportunity to have these meritless claims heard in court where we will be entitled to full discovery of Apple’s practices and a robust examination of the merits,” said Don Rosenberg, executive vice president and general counsel, Qualcomm Incorporated.

Qualcomm has held US cellphone providers hostage for too long. It's about time someone stood up to them.

Hahahahaha we're not fanboys, it's your hatred for Apple that blinds you from seeing what a great business Apple actually is.

Apple is attacking its partners because they really need more income since macbook pro and iphone 7 is not selling as much as they hoped to be because of reasons. (Headphone jack, usb type b port)
Really?

I agree, they should have waited another year to make those changes.

Yup. I agree with you fanboys that they don't need money. But keep this up and sooner or later they will file for bankruptcy. Remember what happened to Nokia? No innovation. And boom! Out of the game.. This is what is happening to Apple right now. You can't see it now because you are too blinded by your love of a fail product.

You keep mentioning Nokia like they were the tech guru's of the world. Apple has been around for almost as long but they've just been moving up and up while Nokia keeps falling. You have no idea what's you're talking about.
