Next Year's iPhone May Have an Iris Scanner

Posted August 31, 2016 at 5:53pm by iClarified
Xintec, an affiliate of TSMC, will start fulfilling orders for iris recognition solutions in the fourth quarter of 2016, reports MoneyDJ via DigiTimes.

Notably, the company is said to be producing iris recognition chips that will be used in next year's iPhone.

Xintec is expected to enter mass production for iris-recognition chips in 2017, which will boost the backend house's revenues for the year, the report cited market watchers as saying. New orders for iris-recognition sensors include those for the chips that will be embedded in the 2017 series of iPhone, the watchers were also quoted in the report.

Apple is reportedly working on a massive redesign of the iPhone for next year. It's said the company will introduce three new iPhone models with one of them featuring a curved OLED display. It's widely rumored that the smartphone will be moving to an all-glass design. It will purportedly have a front glass cover and chassis, joined by a metal bezel and an edge-to-edge display that has no bezels on the top and bottom. Additionally, the front camera, Touch ID, speaker, and other sensors will apparently be embedded into the display.

It's no surprise they always bring the good stuff to the S iPhones. Tell us something we don't know.

That even if S versions do fix the flaws with their predecessors, it usually S bring a few new things compared to several new things a whole new iPhone gets like I just mentioned.

This year will be disappointing? How can we expect that when every new iPhone from before (excluding S versions) have blown us away. iPhone 5 introduced lightning, lte, metal finish, etc., iPhone 6 introduced Apple Pay, laminated Retina display, all those extra features for the home button all because of the demand for bigger screen, and for the 7? It's introducing long awaited features. It's said to have waterproofing (from the 6s surviving some water tests) and dust proofing, but like any new iPhone, this is just maybe the small things mentioned.
