Foxconn is Developing a Glass Casing for Smartphones Ahead of Rumored All Glass iPhone

Foxconn is developing a glass casing for smartphones ahead of a major overhaul to the iPhone expected next year, reports Nikkei.
Apple is rumored to be working on an all-glass iPhone with an edge-to-edge display that has no bezels on the top and bottom. Additionally, the front camera, Touch ID, speaker, and other sensors will apparently be embedded into the display.
Nikkei says that Foxconn is developing glass casing technology in order to maintain its position as a key iPhone assembler.
"Foxconn has been trying glass chassis since last year," a person with knowledge of the Apple supply chain in Taiwan said.
Another source said: "It is only natural that Foxconn is trying to come up with glass chassis as the capabilities to provide more components will bolster its standing within the supply chain and help with more orders."
