Michael Jackson's album "This Is It" will come to iTunes after all, probably as an iTunes LP.
Sony has confirmed to Wired.com that the album will be on iTunes.
“I’m happy to report that [that] story is incorrect,” said Epic Records (Sony) senior vice president of publicity Lois Najarian. “Michael Jackson’s This Is It album will indeed be for sale on iTunes on October 27th. I don’t have much more information to impart other than that right now, but suffice to say fans will be able to purchase it there.”
Apple does not permit the sale of albums without the ability to individually download each track. When asked about the bundling issue Najarian said, “I know that’s the question of the day and they are working on that now”.
If the album will for sure be on iTunes, and Najarian isn't sure about the individually downloaded tracks, then the only format available is iTunes LP.
iTunes LP requires the purchase of a full album and includes a variety of bonus features which would be perfect for the Michael Jackson album.
However, if the album is sold only as an iTunes LP then fans would be forced to purchase fourteen tracks they may already own, just to get the one new track and four demos.
