Apple May Finally Bump the Base Model iPhone to 32GB of RAM

Posted May 31, 2016 at 4:50am by iClarified
Kevin Wang, Director and analyst at iSuppli, believes that Apple will finally bump the base model iPhone to 32GB of RAM.

Wang posted his prediction on Weibo earlier today...

Supply chain research shows that the new iPhone's RAM is 2GB, ROM 32GB onwards.

Currently, the iPhone 6s is offered in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB configurations. With the rumored camera bump for the iPhone 7, many users would struggle with just 16GB of storage for photos, videos, apps, music, and more.

Apple isn't expected to unveil the iPhone 7 until this fall but check out these leaked schematics while you wait and please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

Base storage of 32 gb will only be for pro model. Regular 4.7 inch might still start with 16gb storage.

Give us a damn micro SD slot and call it a day. And sure, just create a new version of that memory card so it only works with apple products. God forbid you turn a profit from non apple users.

I remember the time I once relied on micro sd. It was a nightmare. Nevermind how small they were to easily lose, but it sometimes fell out of the bigger sd card when I often used that, but it felt tedious when I kept wanting to move something over to it, then remove the slot, you know the rest. My point being that it feels easy and quick when you have iCloud or Bluetooth nowadays.

This headline is incorrect. They are referring to storage not RAM. The iPhone does not need 32GB of RAM lmfao my computer has 12 and it can handle a lot of load

There is no way in hell that it's getting 32 gb of RAM. It's probably getting 32gb or storage but not RAM.

Applecalypse my ass. If all apple cared about is money, they wouldn't be here today continuing to ask customers what we wanted and bringing features to us.

I'm surprised with all the things apples doing with things like customization if only they open iOS just a little more. the main thing that made me drop the iPhone line was not having removable storage. Being stuck with only 16,32,64 gab at the time, 128gb wouldn't be enough nowadays.

And once again apple is late to upgrade. Including the base storage.

apples getting pretty sloppy when it comes to competition, I mean 2gb ram is pathetic and base 16gb hard disk is also lame. next ip7 and ip7pro should have a base starting at 32gb hard disk and at least 3gb ram for ip7 and ip7 pro should be 32gb hard disk also but at least 4gb ram onwards

Sloppy?! I have seen tests and charts that show iPhones with 1GB ram doing better than phones with 4gb if ram and if the ram isn't optimized it clearly shows, but for storage itself, what difference does it make keeping or removing 16gb models? It's not like this is the only options available.

Obviously flash storage and not RAM.

Not RAM. storage. Or hard drive.

I don't mean to sound harsh or at least try not to, but... No shit no hard drive. How small do you expect it to be for a phone? But if the base model isn't hinting at storgage (in which if you read the article, it mentions the current storage models to pick from current iPhones), if it's not hinting at ram (what makes you think that much is needed or would fit), then what's it for then?
