Pre-orders for the iPhone SE have topped 3.4 million in China, according to CNBC.
The U.S. tech giant started taking pre-orders for the smartphone on March 24 and has not released official figures. However, as of Monday in Beijing, total pre-orders on three retailing sites exceeded 3.4 million.
That number doesn't include pre-orders placed directly with Apple so the actual number is likely much higher.
The iPhone SE has a 4-inch display with an exterior design that is similar to the iPhone 5s and similar internals to the iPhone 6s. It's available in space gray, silver, gold and rose gold metallic finishes in 16GB and 64GB models starting at $399 (US). The device can be ordered in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK, US Virgin Islands and the US with in-store availability beginning Thursday, March 31.
