Samsung today officially announced the newest additions to its Galaxy family of products, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
Created for today's consumer lifestyle, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge lead the industry with a refined design, more advanced camera, streamlined software functionality and unparalleled connectivity to a galaxy of products, services, and experiences.
“We believe in a world that is brighter, sharper, more convenient, and more fun. We strive to deliver on that vision with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge by marrying elegant design with functionality and providing a seamless mobile experience,” said DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. “We empower consumers with technology to help them get more out of life and will continue to push the frontier of what’s possible.”
Here's a look at their features...
Advanced Camera Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge introduce the first Dual Pixel camera on a smartphone, delivering brighter and sharper images, even in low light. Thanks to the revolutionary Dual Pixel technology, brighter lens with wider aperture, and bigger pixel, the camera has a faster shutter speed and a more accurate autofocus even in low-light conditions. Motion Panorama, a new camera mode, brings movement to traditional panoramic photos, giving the user a completely immersive visual experience.
Refined Design and Function The 5.1-inch Galaxy S7 and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 edge are constructed with 3D glass and metal – all in a sleek design with durability and ergonomic curves for a comfortable grip. From work to play, the device’s new Always-On Display, gives users a simplified, zero touch experience where they don’t need to worry about missing a call or important notification.
Without compromising design, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge both have increased utility with IP68 water and dust resistance. Edge UX, the advanced edge experience available on Galaxy S7 edge, provides convenience and increased efficiency by creating easy shortcuts to users’ most loved functions such as email, selfie mode, panorama mode or third party applications.
Enhanced Performance: From Charging to Gaming Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge deliver fast wired and wireless charging technology. Additionally, the hybrid SIM card tray allows users to insert a microSD card for up to 200GB of additional storage and in some select countries, the tray can be used with a dual SIM card.
Samsung also made significant hardware and software updates to optimize gaming performance on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. The powerful processer and bigger battery capacity ensure longer playing time, and the internal cooling system keeps the device from overheating. Game Launcher, a new add-on for gamers, allows users to manage battery consumption and minimize notifications. Additionally, users can record their gaming experience or share their screen to play with others. Paired with Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, Vulkan API gives users the ability to play high-performance graphic games with lower battery consumption.
The Galaxy Experience Samsung continues to push the boundaries of hardware, software and services to create devices that are designed to improve how consumers connect, share, organize and get more out of life. The company is redefining what is possible, beyond the limits of today’s technology, by introducing a constellation of seamless mobile experiences.
Whether it’s the seamless connection between Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge and the new Gear S2 Classic to monitor fitness, or connecting with Gear VR to “travel” the world – Samsung redefines what’s possible for the mobile experience and beyond.
Beyond the phone, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge users can also get the best mobile payment service with Samsung Pay; it’s secure, easy-to-use and accepted almost anywhere. Protected by Samsung KNOX, fingerprint scanning and advanced tokenization, Samsung Pay works with NFC (Near Field Communication), MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) and Barcode technology, making mobile payments available to more merchants and consumers than ever before.
Samsung says the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will be available starting mid-March 2016. Let us know what you think of the new smartphones compared to the iPhone 6s in the comments.

The phone isn't ugly, it happens to us another OS. What I don't get is there new marketing. Would be nice to actually mention the new features of any that come with this phone.
I PREFERED IPHONES. NEVER HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THESE. DEVICES FOR. ME APPLE IS THE SAMSUNG ALWAYS IN COMPETENCE. THANKS. I FROM BOSTON. I LOVE APPLE 100/00. BYE
Who cares, the battery dies so fast because of the quick charging options.. Great for the first few months and then.. the battery can't keep a charge.. 3 new batteries later.. it's not worth the phone it's in. My wife had to try to replace the phone after the battery started to solder itself to the connectors..Great idea but overall it's a gimmick...
They'll think they have such game changing features only to target apple even after iPhone 7's release. Not buying it! Start to think how long that can possibly last!
Apple will never innovate again? How can you be so sure? Not once have sales been lower than last year's from any iPhone ever made so far and just because on would steal? That's praising those who came up with it first.
Some people have been criticized Apple wont be innovative again ever since iPhone 4/5. Apple have continuously proof them wrong and have made some good innovation including Siri, Touch ID, Apple Pay, etc. I wonder where Samsung got those idea on their finger sensor, Samsung Pay, etc.... Samsung's own innovation?
Umm. A breakthrough design that hasn't been seen before, as always apple innovates the smartphone design. That's all the iPhone needs. A design refresh. And all the other companies will as always steal the design ideas
2 thing i liked first the water resistence secondly the VR set other than that non since its android and its samsung, i hope the new iphone will have these and more
VR is also available for iPhones by Carl Zeiss VR One Headset. The 360 footage and stills can be shot in Ricoh Theta 360 Camera and can be viewed in youtube 360 and these features are already available on both iOS and android before samsung released in S7. 360 calling is a nice feature but not for everyone. The wireless charging feature is still the same. I would buy it if its a true wireless charging like a wifi signal that can charge even in your pocket. This tech is already available by RF signals. The real waterproof phone is Sony's Z series. iPhones are also water resistant but they don't advertise it. Bringing back the expansion card is good for some but people now live in the cloud era where you can store lots in the cloud and collect it in your computer after. SD cards are not secure specially if you store stuff that are sensitive and can be easily extracted. Samsung Pay is a rip-off of Apple Pay and I cannot entrust my bank transactions with an Android which still got lots of malwares and viruses. There will come a time that a hacker will use the NFC as a backdoor to hack the phone since it is connected the other stuff inside an Android. iPhones dedicate the NFC just for Apple Pay which is more secure because it is not used for other features in the phone. Besides there are bluetooths and airplays for streaming contents without using NFC.
It's actually possible wireless charging will be done right and will be featured in iPhone 7. This is what you call wireless charging because it's done like being a certain distance from the charger without a cord.
