These are instructions on how to stop the Photos app in OS X from automatically opening each time you connect an iPhone or other device.
You need follow this procedure just once. It will apply to all your devices.
Step One
Launch Terminal from your Applications:Utilities folder.
Step Two
Enter the following command into the Terminal window and press Return.
defaults -currentHost write com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug -bool YES
Step Three
Your Photos app will no longer launch each time you connect your iPhone, iPad or other device. To reverse the change, simply execute the command again replacing 'YES' with 'NO'.
