Apple Rehires Newton Tablet Developer

Apple has rehired Newton Tablet developer Michael Tchao after an absence of 15 years. Tchao was one of the original developers of the failed Newton personal assistant.

According to The New York Times, Tchao joins Apple as vice president of product marketing. He will report to Phil Schiller, a senior vice president.

Most recently he served as the general manager of Nike Techlab, designing armbands and sneakers that integrate with the iPod.


Its not clear what Tchao's duties at Apple will entail.
