Steve Zadesky, a sixteen year veteran at Apple and leader of the company's electric car project, is leaving the company, according to the WSJ.

Zadesky is still at Apple for now but has apparently told people he will be departing.

A person familiar with the matter said Mr. Zadesky’s departure was for personal reasons and wasn’t related to his performance. Mr. Zadesky didn’t immediately respond to a message sent through LinkedIn.

His departure is seen as a setback for Apple's car project codenamed Titan. The electric vehicle said to have reached committed project status with a target ship date of 2019.

Zadesky worked on the iPod and iPhone during his time at Apple. Recently, Apple tasked him with tripling the size of its automotive team (already at 600 in September) and coming up with a vision for the vehicle. The team has encountered some problems with setting project goals. Apple is setting ambitious deadlines that some on the team feel aren't attainable.
