iPod Touch 3G Gets Speed Tested

Speed tests of the new iPod Touch 3G show that it performs twice as well as its predecessor, according to MacWorld.

Boot time to the home screen was reduced from 31s to 19s. Loading of the New York Times webpage was reduced from 34s to 15s.

Does anyone know if the iPod touch 2G 8Gb and the late 2009 iPod touch 8 Gb have indeed different phisical or inner differences? Do they really have different components?or these differences rely just on the 3.1 firmware versus the 3.0?
