The iPhone 6s Survives Being Submerged Underwater for an Hour [Video]

Zach Straley decided to test the water resistance of the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. He put both devices underwater for an hour. Surprisingly, they survived just fine.

Of course there isn't much water pressure in a bowl of water but as the video demonstrates if you drop your device in the sink or a puddle, you may be okay.

You sheep are so easily convinced... believing that this shows anything about anything.. hell the auther of the video doesnt mention anything about the waters EC (electrical conductivity) .. he is probably using good RO water with an EC of 0-10 mS/m... this wouldn't hurt anything electrical as water with no Ion's is an insulator. I've run an overclocked raspberry pi underwater for weeks to show this concept .

I think Apple did a silent water proofing test on the new 6S models and didn't specify it until they can perfect it for the 7 models that will come out in a year.

Needs to test speakers, mic and lightning port. Should test of wifi and cellular calls while he's at it.

I saw bubbles coming out of the headphone jack, water was getting in there, maybe the battery will go bad on him. Or something else will stop working in a day or two once the water starts to dry and starts to cause corrosion

If that was distilled water it would be much less likely to cause a short circuit. Distilled water doesn't conduct electricity very well, if at all.

That's a far cry from the iPhone 4's lack of waterproofing. If you dropped it into 3 inches of water it was toast. I did it twice in 2 weeks. Both phones were instantly dead. Well done apple!

Because of the air gap in the displays and how technology was at the time.

It's about time they made these phones reasonably water resistant. At least now you don't have to worry if the phone falls into a sink or toilet and you can fetch it, or if you yourself go for a brief unintentional swim.
