Sources have shed some more light on Apple's next generation Apple TV box, according to a new report from 9to5mac. The device is set to be revealed on September 9, and while many of the details will remain a secret until the event, we've heard many rumors on hardware details, pricing, and release date.
Pricing and Storage
We've already reported that the Apple TV will cost between $149 and $199, and a separate report today corroborated the $149 price-point. Apple has reportedly considered two pricing strategies: (1) the simultaneous release of a $149 base model with 8GB of storage and a $199 model with 16GB of storage or (2) solely releasing a 16GB Apple TV for $149.
Since the new Apple TV will include an App Store for games and other apps, the on-board storage upgrade is necessary. Sources say that while 8GB and 16GB maybe limited for iPhones and other mobile devices, these options will be appropriate for the new model since most content will be streamed from the internet.
Processor and OS
Sources also claim the new Apple TV will pack a A8 processor, as previously rumored. While this is less powerful than the A9 processor that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s will feature, it is a major upgrade from the single-core A5 chip found in the current Apple TV. Apple could also tweak the performance of the A8 since it has a constant source of power from the wall, compared to a limited battery on iPhones and iPads. The new Apple TV will also run a core version of iOS 9.
Remote Control
Unlike the current silver remote control that comes with the Apple TV, the new remote is made up of a dark gray/black metal that will match the new Apple TV. In addition to the touchpad, the remote will feature a pair of tactile buttons: one for Siri and one for Home. There will also be a set of rocker buttons on the side for volume control.

The new Apple TV will also feature the same ports as the current Apple TV including: power, HDMI, mini-usb, ethernet, and optical out. Sources also say the next-generation Apple TV will not support 4K content streaming, despite rumors indicating that the iPhone 6s will support 4K video recording.
