Partially Functioning iPhone 6s Assembled From Leaked Parts [Video]

Posted August 25, 2015 at 10:00pm by iClarified
A new video posted by MacRumors demonstrates a partially functioning iPhone made up of leaked iPhone 6s parts and components from the current iPhone 6.

The video shows the device booted to the gear screen and then opened, showing the various iPhone 6s and 6 components laid out and connected inside the rear shell. Several components such as the rear camera are missing, but there are enough parts present to deliver data to the iPhone 6s display.

Although Force Touch support can't be determined from the video, the display does have some differences from the iPhone 6. For example, its shielding is glued in place rather than screwed in.

Photos of the iPhone 6s logic board confirm reports that it will have a Qualcomm's MDM9635M LTE baseband modem for faster LTE and increased power efficiency. The photos also reveal a Qualcomm's WTR3925 radio frequency transceiver chip that will be paired with the new modem for enhanced cellular network performance. The WTR3925 eliminates the need for a separate chip for carrier aggregation (combining separate spectrums into a faster connection).

Unfortunately, the A9 chip received by the site is pre-production and does not have details stamped on to it. The package is 10% larger than the A8 which supports rumors that Apple is moving to a SiP design.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6s at a media event on September 9th. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

I see no reason to show some mostly iPhone 6-like pieces open and closed in a silent clip. Guys, we have heard all the rumors so far. Let's not forget it's a "S" year, so the way the phones going to look won't be so different from the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Most important changes are the alleged better battery and the upgrade in the camera. That's also why, with the exception of my 4S with something REALLY new at that time (Siri) I will skip my usual year and wait for what the iPhone 7 will have to offer next year.
