Apple's upcoming iPad Pro will reportedly use displays from Sharp and enter production at the end of Q3 with mass production beginning in Q4, according to DigiTimes.

Sharp is said to be providing Open Cell LCD displays for the tablet while Foxconn Group subsidiary General Interface Solution (GIS) provides GF touch panels, lamination, and LCM assembly.

The makers were chosen due to Foxconn's close relationship with Apple and cooperation with Sharp, the sources said. Samsung Display and TPK will be secondary suppliers, with TPK responsible for touch modules and Samsung for displays as well as LCD assembly.

GIS is also expected to land more orders for iPad and iPad mini touch panels going into the second half of the year, taking share away from TPK.

Apple is expected to ship between four to five million iPad Pro units in 2015.
