Future iPhones could see a major improvements to the front-facing camera, according to code fragments found in iOS 9. Hamza Sood has been digging around the mobile operating system and found hints that future iPhones could have 1080p front-facing resolution, 240fps slow-motion recording (at 720p), flash, panoramic capture, and a front-facing flash.
It remains unknown if Apple is planning all these upgrades for a future device, or whether they would be incremental updates throughout generations. The iPhone 6s has been rumored to receive "the biggest camera jump ever. Most reports have only been discussing planned rear-facing camera upgrades, including a 12MP camera. With increasing use of the front-facing camera for selfies, it is possible that the next device receive some much-need improvements in the next generation iPhone.
