TomTom to Launch iPhone GPS Kit on September 22?

TomTom has contacted journalists and invited them to an event taking place on September 22nd, according to iPhoneClub.nl.

The invitation reads as follows:

Dear Journalist,

TomTom will reveal the future of navigation to you on Tuesday, the 22nd of September (from 10.30 am until 2 pm) - Save the date!

Its possible that this event will be used to launch the much talked about iPhone GPS Car Kit. The kit features TomTom's turn-by-turn navigation software for the iPhone and a specially developed car mount for secure docking, enhanced GPS performance, clear voice instructions, hands-free calling and in-car charging.

It's also possible that the event is for some completely different product. Stay tuned...

Totally agreed. I don't know what TomTom was thinking. There were even mentioned by Apple at WWDC and all other cometitors like Navigon, iGo, Sygic (Sygic sucks) beat them already.... A little too late, TomTom....you lost alot of customers....IMO

FYI TomTom has been around awhile with GPS just in case you missed the past 10 years.

Think you missed the point Jay.. Tomtom is a great gps maker.. but is going to lose the race for iPhone GPS to Sygic & Navigon... cheaper just as effective and no need for extra crap to attach your phone to.. its an iPhone tomtom.. not a mobile phone...

You don't need the extra car holder for use TomTom... It's only an additional accesorry for better GPS admission and more comfortable use in the car...
