Apple is in talks with Discovery and Viacom to provide programming content for an online TV service that will cost $25 to $35 a month, reports the WSJ.
Discovery, owner of Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and TLC, and Viacom, owner of MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon, are in talks to be on the Apple service, people familiar with the matter said.
A previous report from the site indicated that Apple was looking to offer a skinny bundle of about 25 channels broadcasters such as ABC, CBS, and Fox for $30-$40/month.
A subsequent report from the NYPost claims that Apple is willing to share viewer data with programming partners in order to get an online TV service off the ground. It pegged the price of the service at a lower $20/month.
Apple lowered the price of its Apple TV to $69 this month which should boost sales until a refreshed device is ready for launch. The company also announced that it will offer access HBO Now starting next month.
