Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed that the Apple Watch will ship to more countries that just the United States in April, reports 9to5Mac.
Speaking at the Berlin Apple Store last week, Cook told employees that the watch would launch in Germany during the month of April. Although he didn't rule out the possibility of a staggered launch with the United States getting the watch earlier in April, his statement reveals that the company plants to launch the smartwatch more aggressively than its iPhone and iPad. When first launched, the iPhone was exclusive to the United States for a several months and the iPad was exclusive to the U.S. for over a month.
Sources tell the site that an April launch in Australia is probable and with the marketing pushes in U.K. and France, those countries are also likely to get the Apple Watch in April. Traditionally, Canada is in the first wave of countries. That has yet to be confirmed; however, there are reports that Canada could get Apple Pay as early as this month.
Finally, Apple is said to be heavily promoting the Apple Watch in China, so perhaps Apple is targeting an earlier than normal launch in that country. We should know more at the 'Spring Forward' media event scheduled for March 9th.
