Apple CEO Tim Cook is in Israel to meet with officials and visit Apple's new offices in Herzliya, reports Calcalist. Cook is traveling with VP of Hardware Technologies Johny Srouji, who earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Computer Science from Technion, Israel’s Institute of Technology.
The two executives met with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and are expected to meet with former President Shimon Peres.
Cook thanked Rivlin for the reception and said, "We have tremendous respect for Israel not only as an ally of the United States but also in the business arena." He continued, "The diversity of our employees is one of the reasons why we achieved them we arrived - the employment of people everywhere regardless of their background or origin. When working from a place like that we celebrate the diversity, enjoying every face."
Rivlin noted how proud he was that Srouji was part of the Apple delegation, saying, "Imagine how the world would look if it will be another five, Johny Srouji. We are proud of him and his accomplishments as much if not more."
The two also discussed the role of education in promoting various populations. Cook said: "We are great believers in education and we work hard to allow children born to areas more difficult learning environment that will promote them. We chose 120 schools across the country where we are working hard in classrooms to promote children and improve access to education ".
Cook concluded, "the desire to leave a better world for our children and grandchildren is the most powerful motive to create a better humanity and listening to you, Mr. President, talking about your beliefs, inspiring, I hope it will reverberate throughout the region."
The Apple delegation is expected to visit the company's new offices in Herzliya. Apple signed a contract to lease a large amount of office space in Bayside Land Corporation’s O2 development in Herzliya Pituach’s industrial zone. Eventually, about 600-1200 employees are could work there.
