VLC for iOS is set to return to the App Store in early 2015, reports Softpedia. The app was mysteriously pulled shortly after the release of iOS 8. Users who had already had downloaded the app to iTunes were to reinstall it; however, many users were out of luck.
Lead developer Felix Paul Kuehne has posted to the VideoLAN forums suggesting that an updated app may have already been submitted to Apple for approval.
Responding to a question that asked whether VLC will hit the App Store soon, Kuehne said, “It will be again, but probably early next year due to the iTunes Connect holiday shutdown.”
iTunes Connect will reopen tomorrow after having been down for an entire week for the holidays.
We'll let you know when the app becomes available again. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
