Pandora has announced a beta release of its mobile apps that features a refresh user interface with new station personalization features and functionality.

The company says this beta is currently available for 3% of iPhone and Android smartphone users.

"For more than a decade, our engineering team has worked tirelessly to perfect the personalized radio listening experience and unleash the infinite power of music for our more than 76 million monthly listeners,” said Pandora Chief Technology Officer Chris Martin. “And with our users logging more than 1.65 billion listening hours in September alone, we were extremely mindful in the way we made adjustments to the UI so as to enhance and simplify the experience.”

The update will roll out to all users over the coming months...

What's New:
● A Redesigned interface -- Listeners now encounter a fresh, evolved design that brings station personalization to the forefront of the listener experience. The application’s new look builds on Pandora’s principles of simple and clear design and lays the foundation for future updates that will be driven by listener feedback. Also, with new transitions from the Station List to the Now Playing screen, listeners now have ultimate clarity on sense of place when navigating their listening experience.
● Enhanced station personalization capabilities -- Through the new Personalization Icon, listeners have easy access to features that give them a more holistic view of their Pandora stations. These features include the ability to view comprehensive thumb history and adjust thumb feedback for previously listened-to tracks through a new “un-thumbing” capability.
● Improved artist discovery -- With this redesign, listeners will have even easier access to artist information. Simple “swipe and tap” navigation gives listeners access to song details so they can learn more about new artists along with their favorites.

“This redesign allowed us to reflect and evolve on the core spirit of Pandora,” said Tony Calzaretta, vice president of design and creative at Pandora. “With this update, our team arrived at design solutions that exist at the intersection of instinctually and analytically driven insights. We did this with an emphasis on simplicity and clarity, so that we can maximize the listener's ability to personalize their stations and fit their desired Pandora experience.”
