Bose and Apple Settle Patent Dispute Over Noise-Canceling Technology in Beats Headphones

Posted October 10, 2014 at 7:12pm by iClarified
Bose and Apple have settled a patent dispute over the noise-canceling technology in Beats headphones, reports Bloomberg.

Bose and Beats in joint filings told a U.S. court in Delaware they’ve settled their claims, and asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to terminate its investigation. Bose in July had petitioned the trade agency to block imports of Beats Studio and Beats Studio Wireless headphones over claims the company used its inventions without paying. Its lawsuit in Wilmington, Delaware, made the same claims.

Just yesterday it was reported that Apple plans to remove all Bose products from its retail stores. The move may have resulted from the litigation. It also follows a Bose deal with the NFL that bans players from wearing Apple Beats headphones on camera.

Bloomberg notes that the ITC case is 'In the Matter of Certain Noise Canceling Headphones and Components Thereof', Complaint No. 3024, U.S. International Trade Commission (Washington) and the civil suit is Bose Corp. v. Beats Electronics LLC., 14cv980, U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware (Wilmington).

Bose is better than Beats and has a life time trade in warranty. Bose>Beats wonder why apple bought Beats knowing that it's made cheap and the headphone wires ALWAYS tear and break. That's why I prefer Bose. Durability, Sound and warranty.

Apple bought them because they're trying to give them a chance to be better or just make Apple headphones out of them and share the success.

Wouldn't beats have stolen it long before Apple bought beats? Your claims of Apple thiveing are unfounded.

Bose pays NFL to sponsor them, sues Beats for the technology. Apple removes all Bose items from their store. Sounds more like Bose is spending money and now losing a lot of money. Bose were good until they started to suck and fall behind.

Once again, I can barely read these articles by iClarified because the title bar follows me all around the article. I guess they expect everyone to have $400 to spend on an iPhone 6 plus with a huge screen

They should have bought Bose. They are better in every way. Beats suck.

Remember my son, that Tim Cook said he was impressed with their music service, he didn't really mention headphones.
