The New iPhone 6 Can Actually Survive Being Underwater for 10 Seconds! [Video]

Although it's not waterproof, the new iPhone 6 can actually survive being underwater for 10 seconds, according to tests performed by SquareTrade.

The extended warranty provider has posted a 'Breakability Test' video which shows the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus being put through a series of tests to determine their breakability score.

Most notable is the water test in which both smartphones were submersed for 10 seconds. Although the audio stopped play briefly on both devices, it soon returned and both were fully functional after being removed from the water. This is likely due to the new gaskets that Apple has placed around power and volume buttons, as noted in iFixit's tear down review.

SquareTrade also performed a slide test which found that the iPhone 6 Plus slides further due to its increased weight.

Finally, they performed six drop tests from four feet high. The iPhone 6 performed well, the best a phone had ever performed in their drop tests. The iPhone 6 Plus didn't perform quite as well. The front and back panels came apart entirely and audio stopped working about 30 minutes later.

The verdict? Both new iPhones are bigger and more durable than previous iPhones, says SquareTrade. They gave it a medium risk score of 4; however, that number might change following numerous user reports that the iPhone 6 Plus can easily be bent went carried in your pocket. Apple has yet to address concerns about the device's bendability but you can read more about it here and check out a video here.
