Suppliers are reportedly ramping up production of components for a new iPad Air that will be thinner and feature an improved Touch ID fingerprint sensor, according to Digitimes.
Touch panel makers TPK and GIS are among some of the makers receiving orders from Apple for full-lamination units. Sources said the new model will remain unchanged in terms of size and resolution, but that it will be thinner, equipped with an enhanced processor, and contain improved fingerprint recognition features.
Another recent report said that the new iPad Air will get 2GB of RAM.
Although Apple is said to be gearing up for the release of a new tablet, orders are expected to be limited due to a conservative outlook for the tablet market.
