Apple has announced that it's stopping development of Aperture and iPhoto and will replace both programs with the new Photos for OS X application, reports The Loop.
Apple introduced a new Photos app during its Worldwide Developers Conference that will become the new platform for the company. As part of the transition, Apple told me today that they will no longer be developing its professional photography application, Aperture.
“With the introduction of the new Photos app and iCloud Photo Library, enabling you to safely store all of your photos in iCloud and access them from anywhere, there will be no new development of Aperture,” said Apple. “When Photos for OS X ships next year, users will be able to migrate their existing Aperture libraries to Photos for OS.”
Apple also made it clear that development of its other professional applications will continue as normal.
