A new report may reveal why AT&T is unable to support iPhone MMS until late summer.
According to a BoyGeniusReport, they have learned the real reason why AT&T is unable to support iPhone MMS at launch. Technically their network is fully ready with no extra plans or higher fees (the unlimited $20 package covers unlimited SMS and MMS); the reason its not functional is because AT&T has to manually remove all the Opt Out MMS codes on each account.
BoyGeniusReport suggests it might be possible to remove the Opt Out MMS code, and MMS will work with the final OS 3.0 build right away.
In regards to tethering its rumored that AT&T will block this by launch; however, a $70/mo unlimited data and tethering plan not including SMS and MMS is in the works.
