Dock icons are a quick way to launch applications. All it takes is a single click and your program is launched. Mac OS X comes with a few applications already added to the dock but you can add your own.
Add Icon to Dock
To add an icon to the dock you need to open a new Finder window and navigate into your applications folder.
Here you will see icons for every program you have installed on the computer.
Drag the icon out of the applications window and onto the dock. Before you let go notice that a space will open between existing icons. Once you see the space open you can release the mouse button and the shortcut will be created.
Remove Icon from Dock
The are three simple ways to remove an icon from the dock.
1. Drag the icon ontop of the trash can.
2. Drag the icon to the desktop
3. CTRL click the icon and select Remove From Dock
