Berbie Software has announced an update for TrailRunner, the outdoor oriented route-planning and journaling software for Mac OS X. This major milestone release now adds a routing feature based on openStreetMap, the biggest mapping community worldwide. Also, route exchange with GPSies, one of the biggest international route portals, has been improved.

"All bikers will love this" said Berbie, developer behind TrailRunner. " In versions prior the new 2.0 release, TrailRunner was far more useful to runners and hikers as users had to set up an individual trail network by hand. With this new release, bikers can easily create routes with the new openStreetMap routing editor and upload the course to their GPS device or share recommended routes with other outdoor enthusiasts wordwide at GPSies.com"

Focused on users doing any kind of outdoor activities like running, biking, hiking or inline skating, TrailRunner offers automatic route calculation for a given distance and attractiveness, a workout diary, workout histograms and analysis tools for measured data like geographic course, speed, distance, heart-rate, personal aerobic zone and more. An integrated exercise plan can help users to improve their base endurance in small and adaptive steps.

TrailRunner 2.0 and GPSies are both free but thankfully accept donations.
