David Fincher Reportedly Won't Direct Steve Jobs Movie Unless Christian Bale Plays Jobs

Oscar winner Christian Bale is director David Fincher's only choice to play Steve Jobs in the upcoming movie from Sony if he takes on the project, reports The Wrap.

The film written by Aaron Sorkin and being produced by Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady, is based on the Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson.

Fincher is a picky director who can go years between film projects. He last directed The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo in 2011 and is the executive producer of House of Cards.

Fincher recently met with Sony's Amy Pascal to discuss the possibility of directing the film, and told her, in no uncertain terms, that he'd only take the reins of the project if Bale plays Jobs. Fincher and Pascal had a tense relationship during the making of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” but Pascal believes in him as a filmmaker — and is inclined to keep him happy, according to one insider. It helps that Pascal has a good relationship with Bale, following a positive experience on “American Hustle.” The film earned Bale an Oscar nomination during a highly-competitive year.

Besides his acting ability, Bale is considered a contender to play jobs due to his physical resemblance to the Apple co-founder. However, Bale has yet to be approached about the role.

What do you think? Is Bale a good candidate to play Steve Jobs? Will he do better than Ashton Kutcher? Let us know in the comments!
