Apple is considering simplifying Notification Center, auto-deleting Messages, and removing the standalone Game Center app in iOS 8, reports 9to5Mac.

According to the site's sources, Apple is considering reducing Notification Center's three 'Today', 'All', and 'Missed' tabs to just two tabs named 'Today' and 'Notifications'. The new 'Notifications' tab would combine all the notifications from the 'All' and 'Missed' tabs to simplify the experience.

For the Messages app, Apple may add an option that would allow message threads to be automatically deleted. Options for deletion would be after one month or after a year. This could help users with older devices whose Messages app takes a while to load due to a high volume of messages.

Sources also say that Apple is considering the removal of the Game Center app from iOS and OS X. Instead the functionality would be present inside games that have integrated the service.

As already announced by Volvo, Apple is working on a version of CarPlay that works over Wi-Fi; however, it's unclear if the feature will make the initial release of iOS 8.

Apple is also said to be working on a new API that allows apps to communicate with each other to share data. The API is said to have been in development for a couple years and was removed from the launch of iOS 7 for unknown reasons.

Finally, the company also plans to tweak the controls in Voice Memos to be more visible and it will bring performance improvements to new mobile OS.

Yesterday, leaked images allegedly of iOS 8 revealed new TextEdit and Preview applications.
