Acacia Tree Software has released its latest version of SousChef, the digital cooking assistant for Mac. SousChef 1.2 features metric system support and conversion between metric and SI/Imperial measurement systems, and is available as a free upgrade to existing SousChef users.
SousChef 1.2 offers you the option to automatically convert all recipes to a preferred measurement system (metric or SI/Imperial) when importing or downloading recipes from the recipe cloud, ensuring that international users will be able to better enjoy SousChef. You can also convert a particular recipe from your recipe collection, or even individual ingredients within recipes, to metric or SI units.
Other changes in SousChef 1.2 include faster and more intelligent recipe importing; paged search results; and an improved Grocery List feature. With SousChef, you can create grocery lists directly from your recipes - and now, items can be rearranged and duplicated, and individual ingredients from a recipe can be added to existing lists.
SousChef concentrates on helping you turn out amazing meals instead of just organizing your recipes like standard cooking software. Every part of SousChef has been designed to make your computer help you cook, start to finish. Find a recipe, modify it, create a grocery list from it, cook it, and share it with friends & family--all in one application. Unlike other cooking software, SousChef's recipe library comes from an online cloud database made of all other users' recipes. The cloud currently has over 60,000 recipes - and it's growing every day, thanks to SousChef's easy import tool that allows users to add recipes from the web or their personal files.
Once it's time to cook, SousChef will even accompany you to the kitchen! Place your computer somewhere safe and still read your recipes from across the room, using SousChef's fullscreen ten-foot mode. SousChef can also read your recipes to you and may be controlled via voice recognition or an Apple Remote.
No more trips to the store to get that missing ingredient either - SousChef ranks recipe results based on what's in your pantry, or offers suggestions for substitutes. SousChef 1.2 comes with a larger dictionary of ingredients, preparation methods and units to make cooking with your computer a breeze. There's also quick and easy ways to email a recipe or export it to your blog.
Try SousChef today and get cooking! SousChef is available for download and may be purchased for $30 (USD). Customers who are currently using other cooking software can upgrade to SousChef for only $20 (USD). Users upgrading from MacGourmet are able to import their recipe databases into SousChef in one simple step. Users may purchase SousChef directly from within the application, once downloaded.
SousChef runs on any computer with Mac OS X 10.5 or higher, and is distributed as a universal binary for maximum compatibility. An internet connection is recommended to experience all of SousChef's features.
