Alcohoot, a device that turns your iPhone into a breathalyzer with police grade accuracy, is now available for order.
Alcohoot plugs into the headphone jack of your smartphone (iOS or Android) and accurately reads Blood Alcohol Content (BAC). The companion app is also able to direct users to an UBER ride or a nearby restaurant based on their location.
“Our intention was to invent a product that reduced the number of drunk drivers on the road while having a cool and engaging design,” said Jonathan Ofir, Alcohoot’s CEO. “It was important for us to create a product that enhanced the user’s drinking experience. Alcohoot allows users to relax and enjoy their experience while optimizing consumption by understanding their bodies’ reaction to alcohol.”
In May 2013 the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recommended lowering the legal driving BAC limit in the United States from 0.08% to 0.05% announcing its plan to reach ZERO alcohol related crashes. Alcohoot can help drivers ensure they are under the legal BAC limit before getting behind the wheel.
“Based on our experience in the Israeli Defense Forces, combined with our technological expertise, we invented a product that was needed desperately but never existed in a form that made users feel comfortable while quantifying their alcohol level by providing professional grade accuracy,” added Ofir. “We hope that Alcohoot is accepted for the reason we invented it which is to promote a lifestyle that enables the user to be in control. Alcohoot gives users a tool to help discover how their body reacts to alcohol so they can drink smarter and make good choices.”
How Alcohoot works:
• Alcohoot utilizes high-grade fuel cell sensors; the same sensors used in law enforcement breathalyzers.
• Alcohoot utilizes a Lithium-ion rechargeable battery, with USB charging cable, which supplies energy for over 500 tests per each charge. That is double the entire lifetime of other consumer breathalyzers.
• The Alcohoot app integrates with the Alcohoot device and shows your current BAC quickly, accurately and easily.
• Alcohoot provides a personal history graph of your tests so that the user will be able to see if his BAC is increasing or decreasing. This helps the user to learn his body’s reaction to alcohol and to quantify their BAC.
• Using the smartphone’s GPS, Alcohoot directs the user to restaurants within walking distance of their location allowing the user to grab a bite and sober up.
• The Alcohoot App is integrated with UBER allowing the user easily to get a ride home.
• Alcohoot’s custom mouthpiece ensures that the user is blowing only their own breath
into the device and no outside air is getting in to skew the results.
