China Mobile is set to begin taking pre-orders for the iPhone starting on Thursday, December 12th, reports the WSJ.
An advertisement on its website featured the slogan, "4G is here!", and invited customers to pre-order the iPhone 5s and other smartphones that support its new 4G network.
The WSJ attempted to pre-order an iPhone 5s today but it didn't work. However, a China Mobile representative did confirm that pre-orders begin Thursday.
“Customers can begin to preorder for our new 4G services from Dec. 12 through the company’s website and some dedicated branches in Shanghai. But we will only start providing commercial 4G services after Dec. 18,” the customer services operator said.
China Mobile is the world's largest cellphone carrier and is expected to dramatically boost the number of iPhones Apple sells. Pricing has yet to be announced for the iPhone.
