Amazon and Wal-Mart Join iTunes in Raising Prices

Amazon and Wal-Mart have followed Apple's lead and are increasing prices for their music as well.

The Amazon MP3 store now has prices ranging from $.79 to $1.29 while the Wal-Mart store has prices ranging from $.64 to $1.24.

This quiet and almost coordinated price increase seems to be a music label push to raise prices across the industry. Apple has repeatedly resisted attempts to force a price increase for downloaded music. Unfortunately in order to offer DRM free tracks Apple has had to give up fixed pricing.
