MediaSilo announced a major update to its suite of online video tools. Version 2.0 marks a shift to a plug-in architecture for the pioneer in SAS workflow for high-end video production. The new release, set to debut at NAB 2009 in Las Vegas April 20-23 (booth SL9512), includes integrated plug-ins for production workflow, comprehensive metadata management and upgraded features within MediaSilo's core collaboration tools and an advanced program interface.
"MediaSilo 2.0 brings many new and exciting changes to our network of video content producers," said Kai Pradel, CEO. "Our new architecture gives us the flexibility to offer customizable workflows for all tiers of the market, from major Hollywood productions to small post houses."
New platform plug-in offerings include a turnkey logging and transcription service which brings human-powered transcriptions to any asset stored on MediaSilo at prices as low as $1 per minute of footage. The tool is also available as a self-service feature to allow a distributed workforce to collaborate on production projects. Log notes are searchable through MediaSilo's powerful metadata engine and a unique thumbnail system generates and retrieves poster frames for each log note.
"It's all about metadata," said Dan Green, MediaSilo's workflow specialist. "The log and transcribe features in MediaSilo not only make simple production easier, they incorporate the information as metadata that's searchable, maximizing time and value."
MediaSilo 2.0 also features improvements to MediaSilo's core collaboration workflow, expanding timeline annotations to include in and out points as well as threaded discussions for more effective communication between stakeholders.
The platform upgrade also means a faster, more efficient processing system for MediaSilo users, dramatically increasing performance. The service operates in a cloud computing environment for processing and storage with file-based and progressive streaming through the most efficient delivery system available.
In addition to its platform upgrade, MediaSilo will announce workflow integrations with major industry device manufacturers made possible through the company's new modular platform. The announcement follows MediaSilo's recent integration with Apple's Final Cut Server for online asset storage, collaboration and metadata authoring, the first such integration with FCS.
"Our platform was born from a video production company," Pradel said. "We understand the workflow issues faced by producers, directors and editors. MediaSilo's 2.0 rollout gives us more flexibility to cater the platform to their specific needs at a cost-effective price point."
MediaSilo is a pioneer in online video collaboration and technology workflow, offering online video review and approval, metadata creation, content management, web broadcast and Final Cut Server integration.
The company offers enterprise solutions for major production companies and organizations through a growing network of integrators, workflow consultants and hardware providers. Additionally, MediaSilo's online portal boasts tiered usage plans to encompass the needs of a variety of users. The most popular offering is the "Hollywood" package which provides unlimited storage and bandwidth in addition to the standard toolset for just $99 a month. Complete pricing, plans, enterprise solutions and workflow offerings are available.
