The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c were both released today, and Apple is claiming the demand is "incredible" for the new devices.
“Demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and we are currently sold out or have limited supply of certain iPhone 5s models in some stores,”
The gold model in particular seems to be in very short supply, with some stores only receiving a handful (less than 10). Apple has reportedly asked suppliers to increase production of the Gold iPhone 5s by one third. Ship times for other devices are also pegged at 7-10 business days.
Carriers seem to be hit the hardest, citing their inventory as “grotesquely unavailable." AT&T has ship times of 7-28 business days -- meaning it could take up to 4 weeks for them to ship the device.
The only way for users to get their device on launch day this year was to wait in line, which prompted many users to head to Apple stores all over the world. iPhone 5c supply does not seem to be an issue, especially since Apple offered pre-orders for the device.
Were you able to pick up an iPhone 5s and if so, how long did you have to wait?
