Samsung co-CEO Shin Jong-kyun told reporters at an industry forum in Seoul yesterday that he expects the Galaxy S4 to pass 10 million in sales next week, reports the Korea Times.
“We are confident that we will pass more than 10 million sales of the S4 next week. It is selling much faster than the previous model S3,” he said.
Samsung began selling the S4 in Korea on April 26th and in other countries on April 27th. Based on Jong-kyun's estimates, the Galaxy S4 will become the fastest selling smartphone in Samsung's history.
“Samsung spent 50 days to pass the 10 million sales mark for the S3. The S4 will be Samsung’s first '10 million seller’ device less than a month after its official debut,” Shin said.
Apple is facing increased pressure from devices like the Galaxy S4 to increase the screen size of the iPhone; however, it's still unclear if or how the company will react to its larger competition.
Samsung says spending big on advertising campaigns such as this one targeting Apple users helped the company boost sales.
